"Be the change you want to see in the world."
— Mahatma Gandhi
Everyone always knows exactly what needs to be done when it comes to someone else’s life. But first and foremost, we are here for ourselves. We are responsible for our own lives, and no one else is. Judging someone else while not seeing the entire story of their life is very shallow. Similarly, blaming someone else for our life while failing to realize that every decision in our life is ultimately made by us is also misguided. It’s always all about ourselves. We are the creators of our lives, and everything that exists for us exists only in our mind, in our reality. So, if we truly want to change something, we must and can only change ourselves. We must change our mind and its programming. We have no control over anything else. External circumstances cannot be changed without changing our internal setting, because they are always just a reflection of our inner reality.
We will not change the world by focusing on the world, but we can change the world by changing ourselves. What we want others to do, we must start doing ourselves. Regardless of whether others are doing it or not. That is true love, not a conditional trade of something for something. We are energetic beings, and every shift in our consciousness and actions toward love benefits all of humanity. Once we understand this, life suddenly has an entirely different dimension. I help others, I act in the interest of all, simply by helping myself. Isn’t that amazing?
A morning prayer that helps reduce stress levels in the body:
Lord, grant me Peace to accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change what I can,
and Wisdom to recognize the difference between the two.
